About
Cold Plunge & Sauna
This gym provides dedicated sauna facilities for post-workout recovery and relaxation. The sauna at the Poplar location is gender-separated, offering a space for heat therapy. In contrast, the UW location features a unisex sauna and is noted as the only location with an ice bath, providing an option for contrast therapy. Gym members appreciate that towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are provided for use with the showers and sauna. The Fremont Main location does not have a sauna, and the Poplar location lacks a cold plunge, making the UW location unique for its combined sauna and ice bath amenities.
Atmosphere
The gym fosters a strong community atmosphere that many members describe as feeling like a second home. It maintains a comfortable, clean, and positive environment that is welcoming to all ages and skill levels, from beginners to professional climbers. The venue is family-friendly, with a dedicated kids' bouldering section, and hosts loads of community events for both adults and children.
Staff
Staff members are consistently described as friendly, helpful, and kind. Specific employees like Holly, Brandon, and Kobe are highlighted by gym members for their excellent service. The staff contributes significantly to the welcoming community vibe, with members noting their assistance in various situations, from general help to locating lost items.
Additional Amenities
Beyond climbing, the facility offers a versatile set of amenities. These include a surprisingly good strength training gym with multiple workout areas, yoga and fitness classes, and a yoga studio. The Poplar location features an on-site cafe, dedicated work areas with WiFi, and multiple training boards. Routes are updated frequently to provide variety for members.
Location & Expansion
Bouldering Project operates multiple locations in Seattle, each with different amenities. The Poplar location is the largest, offering the most route variety, a cafe, and a gender-separated sauna. The UW location has a unisex sauna and the only ice bath. The Fremont Main location has no sauna, and the Fremont Upper Walls location is smaller with no showers or sauna. A common note across locations, except Upper Walls, is that ventilation can be an issue, leading to noticeable odors when busy.
